GENERAL ACTIVITY
1. SAVE PENWITH MOORS will have an information stall in St.Just for Lafrowda Day 19th July and will be leafleting the town. HELPERS NEEDED.
2. From opinions so far taken from the public it is clear that the overwhelming majority of local residents have no idea of Natural England’s proposals to fence and graze the moors. Those spoken to are generally appalled and strongly against these proposals – the only ones so far in favour are those who directly benefit (financially?) from the schemes. We need to publicise what is going on. Leaflets have been printed for general distribution and letters sent to various relevant organisations.
3. We urgently need letters written to be written to Andrew George MP and the Secretary of State for Environment. ACT NOW BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. So far we have not yet received 50 returned petition forms.
4. Emails with attached Press Release statement sent to 7 Cornwall County councillors representing wards in West Penwith; 32 Penwith District councillors; 9 St.Just Town councillors; 7 Zennor Parish councillors; and clerk of Madron Parish Council. The issue of Carn Kenidjack will, hopefully, be put on the agenda of the next St.Just Town Council meeting. One positive response so far received.
